PROGRAM SUMMARY
Provides Information and Referral Services to low-income Ethiopian refugees and immigrants who are residents of Cambridge. Information and Referral for individuals and families to services such as health care, legal services, education, employment, housing, day-care, consultation and translation for mental health services, ESL classes and other services in the community.

Name: Ethiopian Community Mutual Assistance Association
Agency Description:Established in 1986, ECMMA was founded by a group of Ethiopian refugees as a means of organizing and assisting their people. As a non-profit, grassroots community-based organization, ECMMA’s mission is to provide culturally appropriate social services, educational opportunities, cultural programs to the growing population of approximately 12,000 Ethiopians now residing in the greater Boston area. For nearly 15 years, ECMMA has worked to develop and maintain a support network for the Ethiopians and other African refuges, helping newcomers to the US become self-sufficient, contributing members of their community while preserving their cultural heritage.
